The Conversion Conversation
At the end of May, it was announced that the Euro, the collective currency for 19 European country, was nearing parity with the American dollar. In short, this means 1 Euro will nearly equal 1 dollar. This comes after Europe faces turmoil in the region, diminishing the currency for the first time in over 20 years.
The best article I could find to summarize all the variables is a New York Times piece by Eshe Nelson. Nelson reports that high inflation, energy troubles, and recession talks are what is driving the decrease in the value of the Euro. To add to this:
One euro will be worth one dollar by the end of the year and fall even lower early next year, according to analysts at HSBC, one of Europe’s largest banks
At the end of the day, it’s important to remember that the value of all money, not only American dollars, fluctuates in accordance to each other.
