A WORD FROM THE AUTHOR: I hope you’re having a good week so far. This week’s message is simple and how we can use our money to change the world by focusing on what’s in our control. As always, I’m not a financial advisor but someone who enjoys writing about these topics.
Billionaires in Space
This past Wednesday, I woke up furious at the fact that billionaires are leaving the planet at their whim. We’ve seen Richard Branson and Jeff Bezos literally soar to new heights and report back on their journeys as they conquest space. Their exploration does nothing to benefit humanity but their own personal interests instead. One meme from this past week said, “When I had a mid-life crisis, I bought a car. These guys go to space.”
I sat in fervent anger as I worked through my meetings, seeing Bezos attribute his conquest to all the Amazon users and workers. After a brief reflection, I realized there is nothing I can do about the situation and I should ponder what is in my control.
You have power over your mind — not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.―Marcus Aurelius
Focusing on Your Own Financial Path
This week’s message is simple. Let’s focus on the financial agenda within our own control instead of someone else’s. While we see people living lavishly, our thoughts should stay on our end goal instead of being distracted by others. Here are a few things that are in your control this week:
Side hustles
Spending less and budgeting
Volunteering and charity work
This week, I’ll be recentering my thoughts around the above instead of billionaires. We can get caught up in seeing how the wealthy live that we can lose sight of what’s in our control.
Take care and have a good week.
